Ninh Binh Viet Nam
Ninh Binh is located at the North of Vietnam 80 km from Ha Noi. At Ninh Binh, there are so many rivers and stream systems that created amazing views for everyone who has visited. Also the Unesco Heritage is where the popular movie Kong Skull Island 2016 was filmed at.
Time to Visit Ninh Binh
Like other locations in Vietnam, there are two season rain and dry at Ninh Binh. People usually visit Ninh Binh during January – April as it is not too hot ( I was there in June and the temperature went up to 39 degree). Also During the LAST week of MAY and First week of June, it is harvest season at Ninh Binh. At that time, you will see amazing rice fields turn into yellow on the blue river running across them.
How to get to Ninh Binh
To get to Ninh Binh, first you will have to get to Ha Noi and then from there, there are couple options to get there.
- To get to Ha Noi, it is best to take the plane and please check out my post about Ha Noi for details
This by far, the most popular and easiest method to get to Ninh Binh. The reason is that you will get picked up by bus from Ha Noi, tour guide and complementary lunch is provided in a package that is cheaper than you do it yourself.
There are many tour agency at Ha Noi and probably including the one at your hotel/hostel. There are usually 2 tours to Ninh Binh. I will break them down
- Trang An – Bai Dinh Pagoda: This is the most popular one. Trang An is one of the UNESCO Heritage and where Kong Skull island is film. Bai Dinh Pagoda is the biggest pagoda in South East Asia. I know not everyone is Buddhism but trust me this pagoda has a lots of view for you to explore.
- Tam Coc – Hang Mua: Well Hang Mua is a hiking point, and Tam Coc is a boat tour 2-3 hours similar to Trang An. This probably the best for people look to exercise.
You can take a sleeper bus to Ninh Binh and then explore by yourself. I highly recommend to take bus and not riding motorbike there because it is much safer and easier to do so. At Ninh Binh all Hotel will let you rent a motorbike so you do not have to ride a motorbike there.
To get to Ninh Binh you have limousine and sleeper bus services (3 hours ride). I recommend Limousine because it is so much easier and it only cost around 150 which is 8 dollars for a Limousine experience (Bus is around $5 already)
Tips: You can ask your hotel whether you can check in early, or to store your luggage and you can rent a motorbike to go around the city until the check in time.
Ninh Binh has one of the most River Ecosystem. Due to that there are many beautiful scenes as well as boating tours that are amazing.
